Big Dream,
Real Impact.
Establishing a new safe learning environment in Kathmandu, Nepal
There is a rapid increase in families moving from rural areas to the Kathmandu region, there they can find work and a stable income, and their children have access to proper schooling. But economically most still struggle. Therefore we are establishing a new school, and seek funds to contribute to the annual costs of offering subsidised education to Nepal's underserved communities.
In a small mountain village, Thade, we have run the Grace Academy English School with great success for 10 years. But now we see the effect of urbanization and as time and requirements change, we are adapting to meet these new challenges.
We who live in Europe may take many things for granted - things like electricity, sanitation, hospitals and schools. And when shown photos of people living in the rural areas of Nepal, we see people living close to nature. To us it can look like a lost paradise.
Apart from Nepal's breathtaking scenery of mountains and hillsides the people of Nepal live in a world of limited resources. Stable employment is limited, and the children have little access to proper schools.
Often the fathers move from rural areas to Kathmandu or other large cities to secure an income that can support their family. And sometimes even whole families move to Kathmandu. A process that changes the fabric of traditional village life.
For families who relocate to the outskirts of Kathmandu, life poses other challenges, the cost of living including schooling, is much more expensive.
Our purpose is to offer proper education to Nepalese children from underserved communities, giving them a strong foundation to fulfil their dreams. Our new English school, Grace International Academy, on the outskirts of Kathmandu will offer quality education to children from families who have relocated from the countryside. And to offer proper and affordable schooling to these families, who have a small income, we are seeking funding for the annual running costs and initial startup.
Sponsorships will enable us to offer subsidised education to these families, who otherwise struggle funding their children’s school fees.
